Gerald Johnson, M.D.

Board Certified Pediatric Cardiologist

Dr. Gerald Johnson is a South Carolina native. He completed medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He then completed his pediatric residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, followed by a pediatric cardiology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Before relocating to Chattanooga in 2011, he was on staff for 8 years at Penn State-Hershey Medical Center and College of Medicine, where he was an award winning teacher.

Dr. Johnson’s areas of expertise and interest include General Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Echocardiography / Cardiac Imaging, Kawasaki Disease, complex congenital heart disease, and pediatric valve disease.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time with his wife and twin sons. He also enjoys swimming, music of all genres, and volunteering at his church.

Mark Hays, M.D.

Board Certified Pediatric Cardiologist

A Tennessee native, Dr. Hays completed his medical school education at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. A recipient of an armed forces scholarship, he completed general pediatric training at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Denver, Colorado and practiced as a pediatrician at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina prior to entering Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship training. He has served as Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at both Landstuhl Army Regional Medical Center in Germany and Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He is entering private practice after serving over 15 years as Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at TC Thompson Childrens Hospital here in Chattanooga.

His areas of expertise and interest are General Pediatric Cardiology, Cardiac Catheterization and Intervention, and Adult Congenital Heart Disease.

His outside interests include listening to classical music, running and participation in Senior Olympics, and helping his lovely wife of 40 years to raise a Godly 9 year old granddaughter.
